Taxes and levies up 25% in first six months year-on-year

Ljubljana, 20 July (STA) - The Financial Administration (FURS) collected EUR 9.34 billion in taxes and other levies in the first six months of 2021, according to preliminary data, which is up 24.6% year-on-year and also 8% more than in same period in 2019.

Social security contributions for pension, disability and health insurance totalled EUR 8.97 billion, 27.8% more than in the first half of 2020, FURS data show.

The figure is also 8% higher compared to the first six months of 2019.

Domestic taxes on goods and services, which include value added tax (VAT) and excise duties, amounted to EUR 2.72 billion.

This means a 16.6% overall increase compared to the same period last year, including a 23.6% increase in VAT and 6.3% in excise duties, respectively.

Income tax and corporate tax were also up, as there was a 36.5% yearly increase, while an increase of 12.5% was recorded in comparison to the same period in 2019.
