According to CEO Peter Čas, the glass packaging division saw a 23% increase in sales revenue compared to 2018.
This year, a total of EUR 29.5 million will be allocated for expansion and modernisation of production in this division, which is five times more than the company invested in it entire production in the last three years.
The production capacities in glass packaging will thus increase by 48% compared to 2019 to 285 tonnes per day, Čas told the press on Thursday.
The company also raised wages to its employees last year. Labour costs per employee were 12% higher than in 2018. In the last two years, labour costs per employee rose by 26%.
According to Čas, the company is opening stores around the world. Last year, sales points were set up in France and the US, while this year an expansion to the UK is planned.
Steklarna Hrastnik also obtained the environment certificate ISO 14001 last year because of investing in innovative solutions regarding waste heat, replacing of fossil fuel and use of environmental friendly energy sources, Čas said.
The glass maker reduced energy consumption per ton of melted glass by 10% last year compared to 2017. CO2 emissions were down by 6% and nitrogen oxide by 40%, while 50% less water was used per ton of melted glass.
