Forest and wood for sustainable development of Slovenia

WE ARE ACTIVE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

to create positions regarding key current and development issues and to champion interests in the area of government economic and legislation measures,
to represent employers in negotiations about the industry collective agreement and seeking agreement with trade unions regarding social rights of employees,
to participate in designing the system for vocational education and training of human resources for the wood-processing industry,
to create conditions for boosting competitive advantages of the wood-processing companies,
to participate in the work of European sister organisations,
to embark on international development projects,
to step up promotion of wood and wood-processing segments, and
to achieve synergies of the Slovenian wood and wood-processing organisations.

OUR PRIORITY OBJECTIVES ARE:

to create the image of the forestry wood sector as the best-performing Slovenian sector for sustainable development.
To step up the use of wood for products with high value-added.
To safeguard common interests of members in the national and international community.
To provide support for educational institutions for wood and forestry to attract and retain high calibre human resources.

The Association is member of the international associations of manufacturers who share common interests and objectives by taking into account production i.e. output:

FEIC - European federation industry particle boards
EPF- European Federation manufacturers of ply-boards

BEST PRACTICE EXAMPLE

Furniture and wood-processing industry Association is in charge of the strategic industry project »FOREST and WOOD for sustainable development of Slovenia«, that links the entire forestry-wood chain from owners of woods to forestry, wood-processing and furniture industry and to craft. The umbrella project includes also all most important institutions to provide support for the industry, as well as R & D and educational facilities.

We team up to achieve the following:

To contribute to the delivery of commitments made by Slovenia for sustainable development in the EU.
To promote the image of the forestry and wood sector as the best Slovenia’s economy for sustainable development.
To step up the use of wood for products with high value-added.
To obtain as much value-added and jobs in relation to woods.
To carry out the development of the restructuring of the forestry and wood-processing sector with the aim to achieve competitiveness in the global environment.
To build the image of Slovenia on the attributes of forest preservation and quality of the country’s wood-processing industry.

The main common goal is raising the level of use of wood per inhabitant of Slovenia.
