Enterprises in the metal industry employ 25% of the total number of employed in the Slovenian processing industry, generate 26% of the total revenue and 29.5% of the total exports. In 2006, the enterprises in the metal industry generated total revenues of 1,275.7 billion SIT, i.e. 5.23 billion EUR, of which:

 

  • metal products, 2.485 billion EUR
  • machinery and equipment, 1.229 billion EUR
  • vehicles and vessels, 2.204 billion EUR

 

In 2005, the metal industry exports amounted to 4.003 billion EUR, of which, 1.851 billion EUR in the vehicle and vessel sector, 0.758 billion EUR in the machinery and equipment sector, and 1.394 billion EUR in the metal product sector. The average share of exports in the total sales was over 66 %.

 

The most important export markets (62.3 % of the total exports) include Germany, France, Italy and Austria.

 

The other important metal industry product markets include Croatia, Spain, Great Britain, Serbia & Monte Negro, Poland, , Hungary, Russia, Switzerland, Czech Republic and others.
