The Slovenian electronics and electrical engineering industry, characterised by its predominant export orientation, recorded, in 2006, a total foreign market trade revenue of 2,566 billion EUR (according to current exchange rates), which represents a share of 18,9 % of the total export of goods and services by the Slovenian manufacturing industry.

The share of net sale income within the total revenue generated by export is 72,3 %, compared to the respective 27,6 % on the national market.

The staff of 36.587 people of the 782 companies, of which 46 are large and 28 medium sized internationally recognised enterprises, generated a total income of 3,722 billion EUR in 2006.

The share of the total revenue within the manufacturing industry reaches 16,5 % for the electronics and electrical engineering industry as a whole.

The added value, an indicator of the contribution to the national gross product, amounted to 1,041 billion EUR in 2006.

Each employee in the electronics and electrical engineering sector generated a net result of 3.695,28 EUR per employee.

The average added value per employee of 28.472,16 EUR was recorded, which implies a (nominal) increase by 4,8 % relative to 2005 in production of electrical home appliances and 5,2 % in electrical and optical equipment. The electronics and electrical engineering industry realises a revenue of 0,982 billion EUR in the sales of goods on the Slovenian market.

The six most important export partners include Germany, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Russian Federation and France.

As regards the structure of goods offered and exported by the electronics and electrical engineering industry, the major groups are those of electrical household appliances, with a share of 42 %, and electrical machines and appliances, with a share of 35 % in export sales. The industry succeeded to keep the share of communication equipment in the structure of exports at the level of 10 %; in view of the global drop of the volume of trade in this segment, this demonstrates the high performance of this sector of the Slovenian industry. The measurement, medical and optical equipment sector has a share of 12 %, and finally, computer and office equipment, with a share of somewhat 1 %.
