Construction is the industry that across the Member States of the European Union generates 10% of GDP and employs 7% of total work force. The construction business has been facing ever-increasing environmental challenges, since it uses 40% of all natural resources, generates 40% of all waste, and contributes to 40% of the CO2 emission. Its impact on energy management and its consumption is substantial. As much as 25% of overall manufacturing output arises from civil engineering and building.
